Spending some quality time with your friends or family on your patio is the very reason for having a patio in the first place. While you may not have the biggest patio on the block, we have some ideas for you on how you can still have the coolest and most popular one.

If you have limited space for your patio, there are some restrictions as to the number of decorations / furniture you can keep but you can still let your imagination run wild. Putting together a DIY project for your small patio is relatively easy and does not require much effort as compared to a large one. Planning / labor costs are reduced significantly. While some of your creative masterpieces may require you to gain permission from the homeowner’s association (if you have one) first, you can get started on planning right away.

For all of you out there with a green thumb and plenty of sunlight on your patio, you can use small pots to decorate your patio. This works great for evening relaxations over coffee as well as waking up to the fresh smell of your favorite flowers. Start your own container garden filled with a wide variety of plants/flower. You can go ahead and experiment the types as per your liking or select something completely unfamiliar!

Putting large furniture on a small patio decreases the apparent space and decreases possibilities for other creative stuff. Select small patio furniture that is easy to move around. Foldable patio furniture may be your best bet here. To save space, place your furniture on the edges if possible. A small table at the centre for keeping things comes in handy when you are going to be spending a lot of time on the patio. If your patio is exposed, you would want to consider keeping the furniture covered when not in use or the seasons change abruptly.

Plan your patio items according to your view. If you like to enjoy the view, place your furniture so that you can take in most of the view without having to adjust uncomfortably every time you feel like taking a gaze. Decorative items that take too much space are not recommended for patios with small areas. Instead, you can put up some mini DIY crafts to lighten up the surroundings.

You can’t have a right or a wrong patio design when all you want is to sit down and enjoy your patio. It can be with friends, family or maybe even some quality time alone enjoying the view.
